DEMAND MORE

This Christmas, I want you to do something new and different: I want you to talk to your relatives about what kind of world you want this to be. And I want you to NOT stop talking, even with that blowhard brother in law ranting on in his best bellicose impression of El Rushbo.

I want you to look at your kids, and your parents and your cousins and your brothers and your sisters and tell them that its time for a 15 minute promise.

Pledge to call your elected representatives EVERY WEEK and tell them how you feel. It will take 15 mins a week. Think of that as your 15 minute promise.

Its time for us to end the politics of fear. No more strip searching grandma or little babies at the Airport.

Its time for us to end the "War on" nouns. Follow Portugal's lead and finally treat the drug problem, not lock it away to fester.

Its time to demand that 'once a servant of the people, never a paid lobbyist.'

Its time to demand universal healthcare. In THIS country, today, to allow a child to die because of insurance should be against the law.

Its time to demand that the wealthy pay taxes at the rates established by Ronald Reagan.

Its time to demand that the War on Terror be ended, and we work with countries to keep the world at peace through mutual security and trust, not the targeting laser of a smartbomb.

Its time for us to leave a world we want our children to live in.

Oh, and that brother-in-law? Look him in the eye, and tell him that he is going to come along for the ride. Assure him that while he will hate the nationalized healthcare, lower crime, safer skies, and cleaner air, you'll gladly listen to him complain about it at next year's Christmas. But only for 15 minutes and ONLY over a beer.

Always remember:
We are a nation of 370 million people. We do not have to cower in fear of our goverment. We should never cower in fear of our government. WE outnumber them, and they work for US.
